Joey Barton, a New Poll

Jul 3rd, 2009 | By KevB8ll | Category: Blues News, Kev's Ramblings, Polls

We are being linked with Joey Barton, (again).

There is no doubt he is a good footballer and would bring graft to the midfield. However he has got a history.

If the bloke has changed, would you want him at the club? Or is the thought of him in a Blues shirt so abhorrent that you couldn’t speak, well please vote.

  1. DaveBlues says:

I don’t want him. Ok player but he would have to be world class for his talent to outweigh his misdemeanors.

  2. meerkat47 says:

More trouble than he’s worth! No point building a harmony in the camp for a nutter to rip it apart.

  3. Holt says:

Dont want him attitude stinks and hed give birmingham a bad name. I have some good news for all us brummies, my friend who manages birmingham U18s has told me we will definatley be getting four more signings were linked with loaning Ramsey and Traoe but we can only loan one. Mcleish is thinking of loaning Ramsey and then getting Bale. Also were strongly linked with a forward to accomplish Benitez Upfront.

  4. Devonblue says:

He’s run out of second chances in my opinion. Barton has proved over and over again that he can’t control his temper and when he loses it people get hurt. He’d be a liability and I don’t want him at our club.

  5. Alan Watton says:

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

  6. dare says:

i agree he is a bad lad but we allso said this about bowyer but we took to him it wouldnt hurt in taking him on loan i dont think he would get away with it with eck he would be very strong in our midfeild as long as he could calm his temper down im 50 50 i dont think it will happen as is wage is far to high 65 k a week i do think this vieira could still sign as is agent want him to come to england kro

  7. Alen says:

Lets not givr ourselves trouble bfore we kick a ball in the league it will be hard enough next season without being left with ten men because barton lets u down.

  8. D J ATTTWOOD says:

NO a thousand times NO !!!! WE dont want thugs like him.

  9. KevB8ll says:

I have my suspicions about some of the yes votes. :-(

  10. Dean1875 says:

Is this an early aprill fools joke ,because its not funny , don’t we get enough bad press as it is, i hope we don’t go down that road again.
    keep right on .

  11. mayjayblue says:

i love joey barton. come on you blue boys, this could be our biggest coup since dugarry!!!! I LOVE HIM!

  12. john says:

keep barton away, not worth the hassle. McLiesh might be doing this as a diversion from true signings????

  13. Roger Palmer says:

Oh no all that bad press every time he goes out. However Bowyer did not want to join us due to his misdemeanours at Leeds. There are always two side to a story but I think Bowyer has a conscience. Barton doesn’t. (dick barton special agent) yeah special certainly but the wrong way..

  14. Dean Giblin says:

yes i would like him down the blues. i bet its the same people who say no who didn’t want bowyer and look how good he has been for us, the problem is there is too many people who should look at their own midemeanours in their lives rather than looking at others

  15. KevB8ll says:

Thanks for that Dean. Yeah I can see that point of view.

  16. Gavin says:

Barton can go forth and multiply.

I can’t think of any player I’d want in the Blues side less. Infact I don’t even want him to wear a Blues top.

A player who makes Lee Hendrie seem nearly ok.

  17. bcfc_podolski says:

i dont think we should get him, gettin barton and bowyer??? why would we want these 2. bowyer not as bad as barton but still has a bad histoy. lets get vieira, the next dugary. COME ON YOU BLUES! ZULU ARMY!

  18. Johnnie Mac says:

Avid reader of your site but first time I’ve felt the need to comment – a definite NO from me for Barton. He’s a lout who would upset the dressing room at Blues…

As a season-ticket holder of several years, I’ve no doubt we need someone with his abilities in the midfield (if he was to play at his highest level which he hasn’t of late), but NOT the man himself. I was all for getting Bowyer on board a few years ago and time has proved that the fans were wrong in their anti-Bowyer stance back then, but this is totally different – Barton has a different league of bad history in his background and I’d be hugely disappointed if McLeish and the Blues board decided to take this gamble.

He’s had far too many chances already and we should not take this unnecessary risk when we’ve put so much great work in assembling a strong squad in the pre-season so far.

  19. Czech-Mate says:

I for 1 will be protesting if this waste of human life gets a contract at our club.

  20. Steve T says:

At the time I agreed with having the poll for Bowyer and signed it to say he was not welcome. In hind sight I am not sure the poll was a good idea as it caused a lot of disharmony.

I think now bridges are being rebuilt we don’t really want to rock boats again so I won’t vote in any polls. All I would say is if we did sign Barton the manager and board are opening up a huge can of worms that I hope they are ready for.

As I have said on other MB’s, I don’t really want Barton at the Blues, but he would be a good signing in football terms, as were my feeling over Bowyer. I also think as sickening as it is to pay a footballer 100k per week I hope Vieira signs then we don’t need Barton.

  21. mr_chips says:

come on then bluenoses. sep 12th….

  22. mr_chips says:

premier league, your havin a laugh!

  23. KevB8ll says:

Don’t be so hard on yourself Mr Chips – I think you have enough to survive. ;-)

  24. Mike says:

Steve T, I don’t think our poll will have any effect on Barton. For a start I doubt he is intelligent enough to know how to use the internet.

  25. eric says:

I trust the boss. We have reformed delinquents before. If they can stay on the field I would not like to face Bowyer and Barton!!!!!!!!!!!!! However I prefer Traore…

  26. eric says:

    P.S. I agree with Steve T.

  27. bcfc_podolski says:

SEEING WOT HAPPENED WITH MARTIN TAYLOR THE LAST TIME WE WERE IN THE PREM AND EDURADO BROKE HIS LEG, I NO IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. BUT THE PRESS WOULD USE THIS AND SAY SEEING WE GOT TAYLOR AND NOW MAYBE BARTON, IT GIVES OUR CLUB A BAD NAME

  34. blunosejon says:
