Just back from the game, a few thoughts:

Hart was an absolute beast today if he doesn’t start in England’s next game then it will be a travesty.

We backed off a bit too much from Malouda, Cole etc. when the ball was out wide allowing too many crosses to come into the box.

The defence was great again today, a bit shaky at times but they work together and for each other so well that it wasn’t a major problem.

Johnson and Dann > Terry and Ferdinand!

We need a left back to replace Ridgewell, hopefully Belhadji, defensively he is a rock but he is still a centre back and that shows when he gets the ball out wide when we’re going forward, it kills the attack sometimes as he is unsure of what to do. (again not his fault at all).

Fahey should start against Stoke, I felt McFadden was off the pace today and he wasn’t much better against Everton. A rest will do him the world of good after playing almost every game so far this season.

Nice to see Jonty back, even if his shooting still hasn’t got any better!

Bowyer and Ferguson had a tough time today but dug in and came out on top in the end, especially Ferguson, he was calm under pressure and smart with possession which is exactly what was needed from him today.

THE GOAL SHOULD HAVE STOOD, no surprise that the linesman flagged though, he was flag happy all match and the reaction of the fans behind him, (stewards having to intervene), told me he had probably made the wrong decision. The same ref that gave Liverpool the penalty for Ngog’s triple pike split – oh well it’s the law to side with the “big four!”

Slightly disappointed with Jerome and Chucho, work rate will only ever get you so far in the premiership and I know that they run themselves into the ground in games - but some of the control from the two of them today was woeful. The decision making at times was also questionable, especially towards the end with Jerome in the box and Roger Johnson screaming for it to be squared, (to see a CB make that run in the 85th minute was great btw), obviously Jerome got the corner off Terry but there’s still the thought of what if he had have just smashed it across goal.

Overall today you have to be pleased with a clean sheet against the team that is top and who will most likely win the league, 10 games unbeaten as well, what a run we are on.
