Midlands Football On the Up?
Dec 13th, 2009 | By KevB8ll | Category: Blues News, Kev's RamblingsThe only 3 teams to win in the Premier League Yesterday were Us, Villa and Wolves.
We are sitting at the top of the form table, with Villa being 5th. As far as the actual table, Villa are 4th, we are 8th and Wolves now find themselves out of the bottom 3.
I know the season isn’t over, but I’m really pleased that as a geographical area that has struggled to punch above it’s weight for a while, that things are beginning to look up. Yes we could still go down, however it would take a REALLY bad run!
I guess some Blues fans won’t agree with me, but I’d rather we all stayed up.
The Albion of course are doing well in the Championship, so let’s hope that they can come up too to increase the Midlands representative and increase the Premiership derby days by 2 for each of the afore mentioned sides!
Kev

I entirely agree with your observations – it would be great to see the Midlands being represented by four clubs next season. Although I’m a life-long Blues supporter I would be very happy to see Villa gaining a Champions League place and breaking the current monopoly. European football would be a dream but I can wait until we are better prepared for it with a stronger squad. Let’s see how we fare in the rest of the season. So far, so good; a big Well Done to AM, the background team, the board, the players, and the all important 12th man – the fans who turn up week-in, week-out!

Agreed Kev.
As a Wolves supporter, I’d love to have a season with Villa, Blues, Wolves and Albion all in the Premiership.
Although, given our recent record in local derbies, it could prove to be a difficult year for those in gold and black.
Of course, if Wolves are scrapping it out with Blues at the bottom come the end of the season, I won’t cry a tear if you go down. As I wouldn’t expect you to, should we get relegated.
On a side note, well done for yet another great result against the Hammers. Sounded like you played them off the park and should have won far more convincingly.
Is it Blackburn at home next? No reason why you can’t continue that good run.
Like you say Kev, it would take an almighty bad run to drag you back down towards the bottom and considering how solid the spine of the Blues team is at the moment, you’ll always pick up points against the lesser sides and give the rest a run for their money.
