Sullivan Takes the Credit for Our Success This Season

Dec 10th, 2009 | By KevB8ll | Category: Blues News, Kev's Ramblings

There is an article on the mirror site, where David Sullivan claims that the good run we are on is because he left us in a good way.

It gets better, bearing in mind that he and the Golds are looking to pitch in with West Ham – he has said he will be supporting the Blues this weekend, expecting us to win. Obviously looking to alienate the West Ham fans even BEFORE he has moved in.

Call me a cynic, but would he have said anything if we had been on a poor run?

Ok he does praise the existing board, but it feels like that it is through gritted teeth.

I find it frustrating because I haven’t been someone to knock the previous board, but the continual references to only the good things by DS is beginning to irritate me. Yes there were lots of positives, however there were a LOT of negatives too.

David, thank you for saving the club – but please please please, walk away and concentrate on your next project. (Sadly I don’t think that will happen, and I expect him to continue to take credit for successes).

Mr Sullivan, No one disputes that good things happened under your leadership, none less than saving the club from financial collapse. However the club more than repaid you and you came out with a wonderful return on your investment. I would say that it was wrong if the rumours are true about the monies taken out prior to selling the club, by yourself, Mr Golds and especially Ms Brady, who remember never invested in the club. If you have the slightest care for your reputations this should be repaid. I am sure most fans acknowledge that the past few years have seen a rapid decline in the relationship with your board, only your good choice of team managers kept a complete breakdown occuring.

So you have taken the money, please go quietly now and let the new owner reap the rewards of our wonderful team’s performances, that have happened dispite your recent shortcomings.

You should have written the article oldbluenose – you’ve captured EXACTLY what I was thinking!

I have a great respect for Sullivan and the Gold’s for saving this club from the prospect of extinction, however as has been debated ad nauseum there was a stagnation about the club up until they left. There had been for a number of years.

The removal of the stagnant regime and the injection of the new owners has been what’s caused the resurgence of form, not the fact that Sullivan left on a good note. He could have left on any note at all and I feel we’d have had the exact same breath of fresh air around the club.

I would also echo oldbluenose’s sentiments that any settlement taken from the club upon the old boards departure should be repaid – if it is in the region of the astronomical figures quoted – especially Brady’s. There’s no doubt they saved the club all those years ago, but they’ve been taking some glorious profits from the club for quite some time. They needn’t have taken any more.
