Birmingham City v Hull City AFC Brief Post Match Thoughts
Apr 17th, 2010 | By KevB8ll | Category: Blues News, Kev's Ramblings, Match reports, MatchesI settled down to watch a stream looking for positive reaction after last week’s non-performance. However as soon as I saw the line up – I KNEW I wouldn’t get it.
When is Alex McLeish going to get it McFadden and Jerome doesn’t work, just in case you didn’t hear me – I said McFADDEN AND JEROME DOESN’T WORK.
We have looked devoid of ideas up front since Chucho was dropped. I predict that we won’t score another goal this season if this formation persists. We were basically 451 AT HOME against a RELEGATION threatened side.
I would be at the ticket office demanding my money back if I’d have gone.
As far as the substitutes go – fair enough bringing KP on, however what a waste of a sub bringing Larsson on. The only time he touched the ball was to give it away or waste a cross. Let him go in the summer.
Hull had the better chances especially in the 2nd half, and with a bit more composure would have, and probably should have, won the game. We were fortunate to get nil! Our passing was poor, we didn’t create any chances of note.
I genuinely can’t think of a single positive, except the added on time was less than 4 minutes and the ref blew up promptly.
We will get hammered by Witton Wanderers if we play like that.
Sort it out Alex.
Not happy.

Got to agree… Whether we are to keep the pesky chucho or not… Let him play for god sake… Should be mcfadden wide in place of fahey.. N chuch up front with jerome.. Does anyone know where the Larson of old has disapeared to??? Cud you see this Larson repeating his goal against sheff wed.??? Could the real sen Larson make himself known to the nearest police officer or steward ” ding dong “.. Whether chucho is worth the 8 mill tag… Debateable.. But we are certainly impotent without him.. And jerome looks worse (if that’s possible) than ever with mcfadden… Boyd for next season?? I was speakin to a Dundee fan, and the reports are that he is slow, and does not put the work / effort that big eck and we the fans require.. We need some pace and trickery a la chucho ( but who can score also) or we need a jankovic ‘esque type who will win and hold the ball ( and also score goals)… Mcfadden has the skill and trickery… Pace..? Hmmm… Scoring goals… Errrr… It will be interesting to read this statement by mr yeung next week… Cos god help us if we don’t have much cash to spend… And more imminently… God help us against milla vanilla accross the road in a couple of weeks…??!
The only positive I can think of is that the teams behind us all dropped points so we have extended the gap to 10th to four points.
I agree with you about not playing Chucho (think of our long winning run), but though Larsson is far from the player that he was, he is much more positive than Fahey. Fahey gives us nothing expect back passes or sidewards passes at best, he cannot beat a man, rarely can he cross, rarely if ever can he get to the by-line & is no better a tackler than Larsson. I don’t have any records, but how many times have we won with McFadden upfront with Jerome? At Portsmouth in the League game Chucho played & we won. At the moment, with the present formation we are starting with 10 men.
