We will not be loaned players by Man City or Spurs. If there players that could be a first choice for us then they would be without doubt a second choice for them! You would be naive to think otherwise. The squad is good enough to finish at least 15th in the PL as it is. The vast majority of Bluenoses that I've spoken to agree we'll be able to stay up as we are, remember we finished 9th last year!!

I think Eck would be foolish not to utilise the loan system and I don't think he is a fool. We obviously need a left winger, striker, centre half and left back.

We have been linked with several purchases at left wing, striker and a couple at left back so it would seem likely that he is holding his loan options for centre half (we only have 3) and right wing (we have no real cover for Seb although centre midfield Gardiner can cover if necessary).

Trouble is have the teams below us got surplus quality we can exploit and will youngsters from a higher club get the game time they are looking for by coming to us?

Eck hasn't been slow to utilise foreign loans (Benitez, Costly spring to mind) so I wouldn't be surprised to see a "left field" foreign loan as well.

Thats not what I'm talking about at all.

1. We're nowhere near the level of Man City or Spurs. We had a fantastic season last year where we got 100% from the team and were incredibly lucky with injuries. One season in the Premier League does not confirm you as a top ten team, look at Hull, finished in the top half one season, relegated the next. We are more at the level of Blackburn or Fulham, no where near the levels of Man City or Spurs which is why we could realistically knock on the door for players. We are of no immediate threat to Manchester City who will challenge for the title next season

2. The squad is thin, and its unrealistic to suggest we can outright buy players we need in the weak positions. 2 Premier League loans at least bulk out the side and add a greater depth of quality. We won't be able to guarantee staying up with these additional players, no, but if we hit a torrid patch of injuries, we could be left rueing not bringing extras into the squad.

Surely, looking at loaning some of the leagues best young talent is a massively positive step for the club? I don't think I was negative once throughout. To think that the squad we have now is equal to those in the upper echelons of the league just isn't something you can say right at the moment. If we bring no more players into the club by the end of the window (which is doubtful), the only way we'll see if our squad is good enough is by our position at Christmas.

Sorry but for the second time in a week I find myself disagreeing. I think it's rather pessimistic to think that without two decent loan signings we are not going to be able to survive. Which is what you seem to be suggesting. Last season we coped with virtually one. This side is better equipped than last year and I believe that is an example for not needing a loan signing at all. If we do bring in a loan player then it would be to strengthen a position and wouldn't be a first choice. The two players that you've mentioned; Danny Rose and Jamie O'Hara (both at Spurs) would not be realistic. As Spurs plan to offload O'Hara and don't wish to loan him out again. I think that they have also categorically stated this. As for Rose I'd imagine Spurs wouldn't want to loan him to Blues. Who they could still see as a possible threat and I'd imagine that's the same with Man City regarding Onuha. We only finished 5 or 4 places below them last year!!

Danny Rose is 20 years old and has played more games for his country at U17, U19 and U21 level than he has for Leeds, Tottenham, Watford and Peterborough put together. I've no idea how good he is but surely he is an example of what's wrong with English football.
Forget about abolishing FA Cup replays and mid winter breaks, just give young players the opportunity to develop and prove how good they are.
