@NDH your figures re Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal's homegrown players are screwy.

Also I don't think you can register underage players in the overage squad.

One thing I think it will do is inflate the fees for homegrown players - I'd say Cameron Jerome could be worth in the 10mil bracket now cos he's young, English, homegrown and last season he hit 10 in the PL.

When the January transfer window opens club's can then take a look at their squad and decide if they wish to change players around. Also teams can register any players under- 21 without it using up a 'squad place' in the January 2011 transfer window but not before. These rules are more problematic for the top 4 save for Man Utd. This is because Arsenal have six 'home grown' players so they'll only be able to register a squad of 23, Chelsea can only register a squad of 21 as they have a disgraceful 4 'home grown' players and they would have to include Scott Sinclair in that! While Liverpool have five 'home grown' players so would name a squad of 22. Last season the average Premiership club used 27 players. All the other teams in league are fine as they have sufficient 'home grown' players. From Blues' perspective we are completely fine we have 16 'home grown' over 21 players, with 5 Under- 21's likely to be registered as well in the form of: Jervis, Mutch, Redmond, Sammons and Preston. Alex McLeish is in the top 5 managers for buying British talent, he actually comes third. In McLeish's tenure he has signed 20 players, with 10 of these players being English so 50% of his signings have been English. These regulations had nothing to do with England's dismal World Cup showing they had already been agreed the previous September, so why managers are fussing now is a mystery.

By the way, as far as I know this isn't from Sepp; it's not even as stringent as Platini wanted - I think it's a compromise thrashed out by the Prem League clubs. It's not as stringent as the rules in Germany for instance.
