Deadline Day Blog Update – More About Hleb
Aug 31st, 2010 | By KevB8ll | Category: Blues News, Kev's Ramblings, Lead Article, PlayersIt is being reported that Hleb turned down offers from Liverpool, Spurs and Benfica because Blues “wanted to do the deal more”.
If this is true, this is fantastic. Here is a player who clearly WANTS to play for us, unlike one other player recently linked with us I could name!

Hleb looks like a great signing for us. McLeish describes him as ‘an extremely creative type who is skilful, a great dribbler and has an excellent touch and quick feet.’ (official website).
However, we only need to think back to his Arsenal days to remember that he was actually a strong, hardworking sort of player as well. Couldn’t be happier! The most important thing for the success of our club at the moment is that the players work hard, fight for every ball and keep the great spirit McLeish has nurtured in the dressing room. It looks like Hleb will fit right in, his motives seem driven by football rather than money and that is becoming quite a rarity in today’s game!
As for Charles N’Zogbia, he hit the self-destruct button on his career by attempting to screw us over. He’ll be an outcast at Wigan. Engineering a move away from the club paying your considerable wages by acting like a spoilt brat was never a wise move. He’ll end up in France by the end of January and we’ll never hear of him again.
Well done Alex McLeish!
Will be a pleasure to watch this guy again. You have yourself an absolute gem of a player.
He is a more consistent version of Arshavin – We love you Hleb <3
Thanks for that mate. We’re looking forward to seeing him play.
‘Nice to see an Arsenal fan taking the time to tell us how highly he rates Hleb .
