Ladies Just Miss Out
September 1, 2011 Ladies

In amongst all the goings on with the men’s team this summer it would have been easy to miss the great job that the Ladies team have done this season.  Their season finished last weekend and here are the thoughts of Paul the Gabbie Cabbie on the last game and the season overall.

Anti-climatic i believe that’s the plural of anti-climax. That unfortunately was the word of the day when The pride of the Midlands Birmingham City Ladies travelled to the Keepmoat Stadium for the league deciding game against Doncaster Rovers Belles on Sunday 28th August. Blues Ladies who were at one time 7 points ahead of arsenal the eventual champions sadly blew up and let i have to say deserved winners the opportunity to get over the line. It was a case of so close but yet so far and one in which to a person they were gutted.

Looking back our Ladies should be proud of themselves.  Being a Birmingham City fan well to be fair being someone who fell in love with our club some 40 years ago i have been blown away with our  ladies. I have been privileged to have taken most of the journey with them and undertaken P.A duties at our home games as a result I’ve witnessed some of the most committed people I’ve ever met in football. During my time as a Bluenose i have fortunately been in many situations however none have given me the enjoyment, excitement or fulfilment i have experienced with our ladies football team trust me they are different class. This Season to them was disapointing to me it was enlightening and fulfilling, they may well have been runners up,

BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS BE WINNERS TO ME.

  1. On behalf of J&S, I would like to say well done to BCFC Ladies. I imagine you must be disappointed, but you have done a fantastic job this season. Have a well deserved break and look to build on your success of this season into next season.

  2. They are true blue noses that wore the shirt with pride and passion. this season has opend up a few peoples eyes with regard to the way the Ladies play football. they without a doubt are class, i have supported the mens team for 20 years through thick and thin, good and bad times, gone to games with plenty of emty seats, stewarded there too. and i still love the blues with a passion. when we got relegated i shed a tear, and thats how i felt when they Ladies were pipped to the post by Arsenal, GUTTED. i believe that they will do it next season. so well done Birmingham city Ladies we are so proud of you all and good luck for next season. KRO
