Blues Brothers On Tour

I know it’s a few weeks away and the way we are playing, it’s more likely to be a funeral than a festival fancy dress away day at Preston … but the lads from MIB/KRO/SHA/J&S etc have picked a theme for the Preston game. If you don’t mind us being so bold!

It’s great to see the inventiveness and variety of Bluenoses at our traditional last away game fancy dress. Who can forget the Gorillas/Batmans and Robins/Elvis impersonators/Nurses outfits/Ninja Turtles etc but in the words of Martin Luther King … I have a dream!

As it stands we have about 2,000 tickets allocated to us at Preston North End. How good would it look if we all turned up in the same gear?

Dig out your black funeral suit and tie (we might need it the way the team are playing) get a pair of dark glasses and a black trilby from any charity shop and we will be ready for the biggest Blues Brothers party ever. Get the only suit you will ever need, get ready to do the silly John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd dance, get your old soul records and CD’s out.

We are the ‘real’ Blues Brothers, come rain, hail, sleet, snow, thick and thin we support ‘our’ team – The Blues.

‘It’s 109 miles to Preston, we’ve got a full tank of gas, four cans of beer, it’s dark and we are wearing sunglasses. HIT IT!’

Sounds classy, I and many other non-season ticket holders will probably not go as tickets will be sold to ATC members and STH’s. I can only wait and see though, should be a great day out. There must of been 100 Elvis Presley’s that turned up at Highbury on our first premier League game. I will not be suprised to see a large number of Blues fans sitting in the Preston end if we have something to play for.

[...] Preston fancy dress – Although we’re still up, I still like the idea of a big band of Blues Brothers turning up on Preston’s doorstep on Sunday. So if you’ve got a ticket, get your suit and sunglasses on. The rest of us will be checking on the telly. [...]

You have arrived at the archive site of the Birmingham City blog Joys & Sorrows. If you were looking for fresh, meaty stuff then this way, please.

This section of the site covers the blog portion of J&S from 26th April 2006 - when the site returned after a catastrophic hosting failure causing the loss of over 500 articles - to 28th April 2008 - when I decided to have a prolonged rest from the site.

Here, if it so takes your fancy, you can find every single article, totalling over 1,000, written by myself and many others over that two year period.

Unfortunately, the formatting on some of the posts is a little rough but since this is an archive, it doesn't matter too much. Nothing is unreadable although a great deal of the links will now, sadly, be broken. So internal Joys & Sorrows links will lead you to 404 errors.

I decided to archive them in this way because I wanted to start something fresh for the main part of the site. Hopefully you'll be able to see that up on the main portion of the site now.

Commenting for the archive section has obviously been switched off. You can flick around the archives by using the 'Find It' function in the middle column or the respective 'Categories' or 'Archives' headings in the sidebars
